I began my love affair with health and nutrition when I found out I was pregnant for the first time. I eagerly purchased my first book on healthy eating to ensure my family had the best nutrition. I have since learned to appreciate the simplicity of our food and how it can nurture us. Today I am proud to be part of a movement that is coming back into balance with our food system, our health and our planet; A Bit of a Bite Salsa embraces these ideals.
With my very first batch of salsa in 1998, I could already imagine what would become the signature A Bit of a Bite Salsa flavor. I spent the next 11 years tweaking recipes and sharing new blends of tomatoes, herbs and spices with friends and family until I settled on the three delicious recipes that make up the core of our brand.
In 2009, I made a jar of salsa for a coworker, Daniel and scribbled “a bit of a bite” on the lid. When he saw the jar he exclaimed, “Peg, I like the name of your salsa business!” to which I replied, “What name?” After that I thought, “that is a good name” and the rest is history. Oh, and of course he loved the salsa!
Since the beginning, I’ve remained committed to the values that lead to that first batch of salsa; healthy, locally-sourced ingredients, and the desire to produce the best salsa available.
